Specialist Behaviour Support

Specialist Behaviour Support aims to understand why behaviours of concern occur. It is important to remember that behaviours of concern are a form of communication. By identifying the ‘why?’ a behaviour of concern is happening we can teach replacement skills that are more adaptive and will improve quality of life and independence. We understand that many people, particularly individuals with disability are at different stages in their social-emotional development. Through comprehensive assessment we can begin to understand the individual at a deeper level. We can put in proactive strategies that work and teach new skills that will change the trajectory of the individual’s life.

Our highly qualified Behaviour Support Practitioners will create a tailored Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) to suit the individual needs of the individual (aged 2-65) and their family/other stakeholders. Behaviour Specialists will also develop a skill development plan to teach your child or participant skills in the following areas:

        • Challenging behaviour reduction
        • Language and communication skills
        • Social Skills
        • Leisure and play skills
        • Personal independence skills
        • School Readiness and independence
        • Community skills

Specialist Behaviour Support can empower individuals with the skills they need to navigate challenges, for positive relationships, have increased choice and control over their decisions and set themselves up for a successful future.

What do our Behaviour Support Practitioners do?

Each client will be appointed one of our team members of qualified Behaviour Specialists. They will conduct a comprehensive assessment to understand the participants behaviour challenges, strengths, triggers, needs and goals through direct observation and interviews with the participant and their family network. From here, your practitioner will write a Behaviour Support Plan to address these needs using a proactive strategy and behaviour intervention. Our practitioner will then provide training to your family, therapy team and school on how to implement the plan. Ongoing support in skill development is available. Our team constantly monitors and evaluates progress by collecting data and tracking analysis.
