Our child psychologist in Caringbah supports children across the Sutherland Shire with emotional regulation, behaviour, and social development
How Child Psychology Supports Your Child’s Development
Children often express their thoughts and feelings through behaviour.
Because of this, challenges such as emotional outbursts, anxiety, or difficulty with friendships are often a sign that a child needs support, not punishment.
A child psychologist helps to understand what is driving behaviour and teaches children the skills they need to manage emotions, communicate effectively, and build positive relationships.
Does my child need an assessment? Learning and Attention Challenges? (including cognitive assessments where appropriate).
Support Across Home, School and Community
We understand that children learn and behave differently across environments.
That’s why we offer flexible support options, including:
- Clinic sessions in Caringbah
- Home-based support
- School or daycare visits
- Telehealth sessions
Our team works collaboratively with teachers, support coordinators, and other professionals where appropriate.
About Lianna
Lianna is a Registered Psychologist skilled in supporting children, adolescents, and adults across clinical, NDIS, and forensic settings. She is trained in evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT, Schema Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and has delivered both individual and group interventions. She has extensive experience working with ADHD, autism, and other neurodevelopmental and behavioural needs, and adapts her work to be developmentally appropriate.
Lianna has conducted comprehensive cognitive and academic assessments for children and adolescents, and works closely with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams to implement effective strategies across home, school, and community settings. She is experienced in supporting a range of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, and trauma, and has facilitated social skills programs that build communication, social, and emotional regulation skills in a fun and practical way.
More recently, Lianna has worked within the criminal justice system, developing skills in behaviour support, risk assessment, and complex presentations. She is now returning to her passion for working with children and adolescents.
Lianna takes a warm, collaborative, and engaging approach incorporating creative, play-based strategies to support client engagement and learning. She prioritises a strong therapeutic relationship and understands that patience and compassion are key to fostering growth. Lianna recognises that meaningful change comes from balancing support with gentle challenge so clients can transcend unhelpful patterns and respond to challenges in new, adaptive ways.
